Mattress Care & Warranty

We stand behind every mattress we sell. Most of our mattresses are Canadian-made, bought factory direct, and built to last. This page explains how to care for your mattress, what your warranty covers, and how to make a claim if something goes wrong. We keep this process simple and straightforward because that is how we do everything at Furniture Spot.

Our Approach to Mattress Quality and Care

At Furniture Spot & Mattress Outlet, we stand behind the quality of the brand-new mattresses we carry, most made right here in Canada. Our goal is to help customers understand how to protect their mattress, recognize warranty coverage, and distinguish between normal comfort changes and manufacturing defects over time.

This warranty policy outlines the care standards and claim process that apply to all eligible mattresses sold through Furniture Spot & Mattress Outlet and furniturespot.ca.

Quick Summary

Most mattresses include a free non-prorated warranty. Warranty covers manufacturing defects only. Claims submitted by email to Email Furniture Spot Support Halifax NS. One-time free pickup and delivery on eligible mattresses.

Mattress Care Guidelines

Proper care is essential to maintain mattress condition and warranty eligibility.

To maintain warranty coverage, rotate your mattress every two months. Use a proper bed frame with center support and ensure slats have no gaps wider than 6 inches. Replace any worn or broken foundation when purchasing a new mattress. When moving your mattress, lift it from the base - handles are for positioning only, not carrying.

A waterproof mattress protector is strongly recommended. Stains, moisture damage, or contamination void warranty coverage.

Avoid placing a board between the mattress and foundation, bending or folding the mattress, standing or jumping on it, using chemical or dry-cleaning fluids, or placing it directly on the floor. Improper care, misuse, or inadequate support may void the warranty.

Mattress Setup Standards

To ensure performance and warranty eligibility, your bed frame must have center support and slat gaps must be less than 6 inches. The mattress must not be placed directly on the floor, and any adjustable base used must be compatible with the mattress. Damage resulting from improper setup is not covered.

Mattress Warranty Overview

All new mattresses purchased directly from Furniture Spot & Mattress Outlet include a free non-prorated Limited Manufacturer Warranty, unless the mattress is sold as Clearance, Final Sale, Open Box, or As-Is. Non-prorated means your warranty coverage does not decrease over time - if a valid defect is found in year 8, you receive the same coverage as year 1. Warranty duration is specified per product and begins on the date of purchase. Coverage applies only to the original purchaser in Canada and is limited to repair or replacement. Refunds are not offered under any circumstance.

Normal Mattress Changes vs. Defects

Mattresses naturally adjust over time. Body impressions under 1.5 inches, gradual softening of foam or comfort layers, and changes in feel during the break-in period are all considered normal and are not covered as defects.

What Is Covered

Warranty coverage applies to manufacturing defects including body indentations greater than 1.5 inches measured without weight and not caused by improper support, structural failure or coil collapse, and coils or wires protruding through fabric. If approved, resolution is limited to a one-time repair or replacement.

What Is Not Covered

The warranty does not cover comfort preference or firmness changes, body impressions under 1.5 inches, mattress height or size variation within manufacturing tolerance, edge sag unless explicitly covered, fabric wear, pilling, or wrinkling, stains, burns, cuts, or moisture damage, pet-related damage including stains, odor, or scratching, misuse or improper care, use on floors or non-compliant bed frames, mattresses that have been altered, modified, or used in commercial or rental settings, or Final Sale, Clearance, Open Box, As-Is, or unauthorized resale products.

Warranty Requirements

To remain eligible for warranty coverage, use a proper frame with center support, keep the mattress clean and free of stains or odors, and do not alter or modify the mattress. A waterproof mattress protector is strongly recommended - stains, moisture damage, or contamination void coverage. Failure to meet these requirements voids the warranty.

One-Time Free Delivery

One-time free pickup and delivery for the first approved mattress service event - either a Comfort Trial exchange or a warranty repair and replacement pickup, whichever happens first - is included on eligible mattresses meeting these minimum prices by size: Twin $349 or more, Full/Double $379 or more, Queen $399 or more, King $649 or more, for customers located within 45km of our Halifax location at 3606 Strawberry Hill Street.

For customers located more than 45km from our Halifax location, a delivery charge equal to 50% of our standard delivery rate applies to all approved service events in addition to the Hygiene & Processing Fee. This applies regardless of mattress price threshold.

If a mattress does not meet the minimum price threshold, pickup and delivery service is charged at our standard service rates regardless of distance. After the one-time benefit has been used, all future pickups and deliveries follow our standard service rates.

Hygiene and Processing Fee

A Hygiene & Processing Fee of $47.99 applies to all warranty service events. This fee covers hygiene preparation, safe handling, and quality inspection during the claim process. The fee applies whether the mattress is picked up by Furniture Spot or dropped off by the customer, and applies per approved service event including both Comfort Trial exchanges and warranty service.

Customer Self-Delivery Drop-Off Policy

If you choose to transport the mattress to Furniture Spot for warranty service, the mattress must be pre-approved before drop-off. It must arrive clean, dry, and properly protected. Any damage, staining, or unsanitary condition caused during self-delivery will void the warranty.

Submitting a Warranty Claim

All warranty claims must be submitted by email to Email Furniture Spot Support Halifax NS. Include a copy of your original invoice, valid photo ID, clear photos of the mattress, the reported issue, and your support system setup, and the item tag and serial number from the mattress label if applicable. Incomplete submissions will not be reviewed. Claims are subject to inspection. Furniture Spot facilitates the claim process but final warranty approval is determined by the manufacturer. For step by step instructions visit our Start a Warranty Claim Halifax NS page.

Important Warranty Terms

The warranty is non-transferable. Resale, gifting, or transfer of ownership does not extend or transfer warranty coverage. Replacement does not restart or extend the warranty term. No refunds are issued for warranty claims. Manufacturer tolerances of up to 1 inch apply. Furniture Spot reserves the right to determine misuse or eligibility.

Limitation of Liability

This warranty replaces all other express or implied warranties to the extent permitted by law. Furniture Spot's total liability will not exceed the mattress's original purchase price. Some provinces or territories may provide additional rights.

Process Notice

All warranty claims must follow the email process outlined above. In-store staff are not authorized to inspect or assess warranty issues, approve or deny claims, or accept products without written authorization.

By purchasing a mattress from Furniture Spot & Mattress Outlet, the customer agrees to the mattress care, setup, and warranty terms listed above and all current store policies at furniturespot.ca. For comfort trial information visit our Comfort Trial Policy Halifax NS page.
