How We Price Our Mattresses

At Furniture Spot & Mattress Outlet, we set prices once and stand behind them every day. There are no fake markups, no manufactured sale cycles, and no inflated regular prices designed to make a discount look bigger than it is. Our pricing model is built on lower overhead, high-volume buying, and factory-direct Canadian-made mattresses - and the savings go directly to our customers.

How Our Compare At Prices Work

Some mattresses on our site display a compare at price alongside our selling price. That compare at price reflects the current advertised retail price for a comparable mattress build at Halifax-area retailers, including national chains and local stores serving Nova Scotia. We define comparable as a mattress of similar construction - meaning comparable mattress type, comfort layer composition, coil system where applicable, and overall height. It does not require the same brand name, because brand names carry marketing and distribution costs that have nothing to do with how a mattress is built or how it feels.

Our team cross-checks local market pricing on a regular basis. We do not tie our comparisons to a specific date because mattress prices at chain retailers change frequently with promotional cycles - sometimes weekly. Our goal is always to reflect an accurate, real-world price a Halifax shopper would encounter at a comparable local store. If we identify that a comparison is no longer accurate, we update or remove it.

What We Do Not Compare

We do not use compare at prices on our most basic entry-level foam mattresses. Those products are designed for kids rooms, guest rooms, and temporary use - not as primary sleep surfaces for adults. We price them honestly for what they are. Our compare at pricing applies to mattresses where the build quality, materials, and intended use justify a direct side-by-side comparison with products carried at Halifax-area chain stores.
